What you get when you buy Telegram usernames
A purchased Telegram username is a collectible: an item recorded on the public TON blockchain and held by a wallet, not by a Telegram account. Telegram introduced the format on November 5, 2022, together with Fragment, the platform where the names trade (Telegram blog, 2022). Its FAQ now says these names can be bought and sold through third-party platforms like Fragment, and that acquiring one gives permanent ownership verified by the blockchain (Telegram FAQ, checked October 12, 2026). Basic usernames work differently. They are free, handed out first come, first served, and tied to one profile, group or channel. Each of those chats can carry one basic username and any number of collectible ones, according to Fragment's guide. So the thing you pay for is a transferable token that points at a chat of your choosing, which the holder can repoint at will.
Because the token sits in a wallet, it outlives the account it was assigned to. Fragment's FAQ says a holder who loses a phone, a session or a number keeps every collectible while the wallet's backup words are safe. That matters after enforcement: someone working through banned telegram account recovery or a telegram banned number recovery still owns the name while the old login is locked.
Telegram collectible usernames also carry a limit buyers miss. Its FAQ states that Telegram cannot assign or move a collectible for anyone; only the owner's wallet can. Your Reputation Solution is an account recovery and reputation management firm that helps people regain locked accounts and report impersonation, and a lost wallet key falls outside what any firm or platform can restore.
How do you buy a Telegram username on Fragment with TON?
Connect a TON wallet and your Telegram account at fragment.com, place a bid, and the winning wallet receives the name after a 7-day auction. Searches such as "buy telegram username fragment" and "buy telegram username ton" describe this same checkout.
As of October 2026, Fragment's guide lays the purchase out in this order:
- Install a non-custodial TON wallet. Fragment names Tonkeeper and MyTonWallet, and losing the recovery word list means losing the funds and collectibles for good.
- Fund it. Bids are now priced in Grams ($GRAM) on the TON blockchain; earlier guides gave the same figures in TON.
- Open fragment.com by typing the address, then use Connect TON and Connect Telegram.
- Search the name. Status sets the route: an open listing takes bids, a fixed-price listing sells at once, and a name marked Taken accepts only an offer.
- Bid from the connected wallet; an outbid amount returns automatically.
- After winning, open My Assets, choose Assign to Telegram, then switch the name on under Settings > Username.
In recovery cases that involve a collectible, Your Reputation Solution checks the wallet before the account, because the wallet decides who owns the name. We ask which wallet won the auction and whether its backup words still exist, since a Telegram login can be rebuilt and a wallet key cannot.
A Telegram username auction on Fragment runs for seven days from the first bid, and a listed name can wait unbid for an unlimited time before that (Fragment guide, checked October 12, 2026). Sellers set the minimum bid, and they may add a maximum price that ends the auction once paid. Whichever bid reaches the blockchain first holds the price, so a late bid that fails to confirm before the close is refunded and loses. Names marked Taken are in use as basic usernames and cannot be bought outright. Buyers can pay a small non-refundable fee to send the owner an anonymous offer, and the figure typed into that offer binds neither side. One detail surprises new bidders: the owner never learns who made the offer, yet the wallet that paid for it is visible to everyone.
Closing the account later does not burn the token either. Keep that in mind before you follow a guide on how to delete a telegram account.
What sets a Telegram username price, and can a price checker confirm it?
Bidders set every Telegram username price; no official appraisal exists, and a checker only repeats what Fragment's listing already shows.
| Cost | Amount | Who carries it |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee | 5% of each sale | Seller, deducted from proceeds |
| Conversion fee, first sale of a basic name | 5 Grams, once | Seller, deducted from proceeds |
| Network fee | about 1 Gram | Whoever signs the transaction |
| Offer on a Taken name | small, non-refundable | Buyer |
| Lowest starting bid | 10 GRAM | Set by the seller |
When a client quotes a price to us, Your Reputation Solution asks for the listing page behind it, because a figure counts as evidence only when Fragment itself shows it.
Length and meaning drive the number. Telegram's in-app username field asks for at least five characters, so four-character names exist only as collectibles, and short dictionary words draw the heaviest bidding; rare Telegram usernames of that kind produced about $50 million in sales during Fragment's first weeks (The Block, 2022). The floor sits far lower. Getgems' help article, updated September 6, 2026, gives 10 GRAM as the minimum starting bid and works the arithmetic for a seller whose own 10 GRAM bid wins: roughly 4.47 GRAM comes back with the token, after the 5 GRAM conversion fee and the 5% platform fee. Buyers learn something from that example too, because it shows where the fees land. They come out of the seller's proceeds. Nobody pays Fragment a commission in advance, and a request to do so is a scam marker covered below.
Every Telegram username price checker is a wrapper around that public data. Fragment's own search returns each name's status, current bid or asking price and past sales at no charge, while bulk checkers sold on scraping marketplaces charge around $10 per 1,000 lookups for the same fields (Apify listing, checked October 2026). No tool can appraise a name that has never been listed.
Other platforms publish no price at all. TikTok sells no handles, a bought account there can be pulled back by its first owner through the tiktok account recovery page, and trading logins is a habit to drop if you want to avoid getting banned on tiktok.
How does the Telegram username market work outside Fragment?
Outside Fragment, the Telegram username market is three things: NFT marketplaces reselling collectibles, private chat deals, and hand-overs of whole channels. On each of those venues, Your Reputation Solution starts from one question: is there a token, and which wallet holds it?
| Venue | What changes hands | Named by Telegram? | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fragment | Collectible, sent to the winning wallet | Yes, in its FAQ | You typed the address yourself |
| Getgems and similar TON marketplaces | An already converted collectible | No, third party | Token sits in the official collection |
| Private deal in a chat | A promise | No | Nothing can be checked |
| Channel or group hand-over | The chat and its basic username | Only the ownership transfer | Who else still holds admin rights |
People who buy and sell Telegram usernames away from Fragment are trading one of two different things, and the difference decides the risk. Wherever it is listed, a Telegram NFT username is the same blockchain token, so a marketplace resale still ends with the token in the buyer's wallet. Any Telegram username for sale in a chat or a broker's channel with no token behind it is a basic username, and Telegram offers no way to move a basic username between unrelated accounts. Sellers get around that by handing over a whole channel, or by promising to release the name at an agreed minute so the buyer can claim it. Neither step is protected. Telegram's FAQ adds that it reserves the right to recall usernames that are openly squatted, which leaves a hoarded basic name exposed on both sides of a deal.
Broker groups deserve a classifieds page's scrutiny. Readers who have filled in a facebook marketplace report scam seller form will recognise the pattern, and the steps for how to report a facebook scam ask for what Telegram asks for: the profile, the messages and the payment record.
When the broker is a Telegram chat, you can report a telegram group from inside it. Admin-run scam groups elsewhere follow a similar route, described in our note on how to report a facebook group admin. Your Reputation Solution does not broker names, hold funds in escrow or vouch for sellers; the firm documents a failed deal and files it with the platform and the payment provider, and they make the decision.
How do you sell Telegram username collectibles and basic names?
List it on Fragment: a collectible sells or auctions from My Assets, while a basic name converts through its first auction.
Sell Telegram username on Fragment: the conversion listing
Any basic username on your account can be auctioned, including names attached to public groups and channels you own (Fragment guide, checked October 12, 2026). Log in with both Telegram and the wallet that should receive the money, open the wallet menu, choose Convert to Collectibles, pick the name and set a minimum bid. After that the listing waits until someone places a first bid and starts the seven-day clock. Cancelling is possible only before that first bid; after it, the conversion is permanent. While listed, the name keeps pointing at the same chat and cannot be moved to another one. Telegram can also refuse the listing. Four reasons appear in Fragment's FAQ: no two-step verification password or one set too recently, a name held for too short a time, a name moved between chats recently, or signs of bad faith.
How to sell Telegram username on Getgems after conversion
Getgems lists tokens only, so the answer has two parts. Names that are already collectibles are listed from the connected wallet like any other NFT. Basic names have to pass through the Fragment auction first, and Getgems' help page says both the 5 GRAM conversion charge and the 5% cut belong to Fragment, since the auction runs there. Many sellers win their own opening auction for this reason: it turns the name into a token they can list anywhere.
For sellers who receive an unexpected offer, Your Reputation Solution reviews the message trail before anything is signed, and we flag every request that would move the deal off fragment.com.
Selling a name that matches someone else's brand invites a claim instead of a bid. Trademark complaints are a different instrument from the copyright tools sellers have met before, such as a facebook copyright notice or a youtube channel copyright strike, and a blockchain record does not settle who may use a mark.
How to transfer Telegram username ownership after a sale
Transfers happen in the wallet, not in Telegram: the holder sends the token to another TON address, and the new holder assigns it.
Fragment's FAQ describes the transfer as free apart from network costs and gives Tonkeeper's NFT tab as the example: open the collectible, choose transfer, paste the recipient's address and sign. Nothing about the recipient's Telegram account is involved at that stage. Once the token lands, the new holder connects the receiving wallet and a Telegram account to Fragment, opens My Assets, taps Assign to Telegram and picks a profile, group or channel, then enables the name in that chat's settings. Until they do, the name keeps resolving to the previous chat. Two cautions follow from the design. Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed by Fragment, Telegram or a wallet maker, so one wrong character in the address is final. And a token sent before payment has cleared is a gift, which is why direct sales and auctions exist.
If a token has already gone to the wrong address, Your Reputation Solution can document the transaction for a fraud report but cannot pull it back.
Basic usernames have no transfer button. Their one supported move is Telegram's ownership transfer for a group or channel, which carries the chat's username with it and asks the current owner to confirm with a two-step verification password.
Other apps show how unusual the wallet model is. Following a guide on how to permanently delete tiktok account data ends your claim to that handle, and asking how to get a tiktok account removed is a policy question; a collectible stays wherever the keys are.
Which scams follow a Telegram username for sale?
Most start with an unsolicited buyer who offers a high price, then moves the deal to a link, a bot or an upfront fee.
Owners of short or brandable names describe the same script. Someone with a polished profile offers far more than the name would fetch, builds rapport, then says the sale must run through an "authorised Fragment merchant", a guarantor or a bot. Their link opens a page that copies Fragment's design and asks the owner to connect a wallet or to pay a commission first; one TRON DAO forum post describes a buyer demanding a 6% "Fragment commission" before paying. Measured against Fragment's published rules, each step fails. Offers for a Taken name arrive through Fragment itself and are anonymous, so a buyer messaging you directly is outside that channel. Fees are 5%, deducted from the seller's proceeds after the auction. No part of a real sale asks for recovery words, and the FTC's consumer advice is blunt: only scammers demand payment in cryptocurrency in advance.
Got an offer you can't verify, or paid for a name that never arrived? Your Reputation Solution reviews the messages, the wallet addresses and the listing, then tells you which reports are worth filing. Send us the offer for a free review.
Start the paper trail inside Telegram. You can report a telegram account from its profile, and our guide on how to report telegram fraud lists the outside bodies that take a crypto loss.
Fake buyers are one entry in a longer catalogue of telegram app scams, and a profile that copies a real broker or claims to be Fragment staff also warrants a telegram impersonation report.
Pressure sometimes turns into threats to leak chats or wallet details. That is extortion, and the response matches what we advise for facebook blackmail scams and for people who need to report snapchat blackmail: keep the evidence, pay nothing, report.
Lookalike "Fragment support" profiles also advertise on other networks. Reporting an account on twitter deals with the profile, and you can report a tweet that carries the phishing link itself.
When a name is taken, squatted or copying you, what can't a marketplace fix?
A marketplace sells names; it does not rule on impersonation, trademarks or abuse, and those go to Telegram's own channels at no cost.
Paying is the wrong first move when the name you want is your own brand in someone else's hands. Telegram's FAQ says a basic username can be requested through @Username_bot when you hold the same username on at least two of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and that Telegram reserves the right to recall names attached to unused bots and channels or openly squatted. The same FAQ sends impersonation by a scammer to @NoToScam. Collectibles are carved out: Telegram says it cannot reassign them, so a dispute over a tokenised name is a trademark matter between you and the holder, not a support ticket. That split is worth checking on Fragment's search page before spending anything. Names marked Taken are still basic and still within Telegram's reach, while names marked Sold have left it for good.
Whatever the status, Your Reputation Solution will not buy a handle on your behalf, promise that Telegram will release one, or organise mass reports to push a holder off a name. We never ask for a password, a login code or wallet recovery words, and our disclaimer sets out what a filing can achieve.
Usernames can also be the weapon: a handle built from your name and used to post accusations. Readers asking can you sue for defamation on facebook face the same test on Telegram, the statement and not the handle, while exposed private details fall under rules like the youtube doxxing policy.
Cross-posted copies need separate filings: the steps to report abuse on fb differ from Telegram's, and so does the facebook report notification a reported person sees.
